The Type 1 Parent’s School Survival Kit is a practical, parent-to-parent guide designed to help families navigate the school day with a child who has Type 1 diabetes. It includes communication templates, school planning checklists, 504 Plan talking points, lunchbox ideas, and printable forms to help parents feel more prepared and organized.

This guide is for parents and caregivers of children with Type 1 diabetes who want a clearer, calmer way to manage school routines, nurse communication, classroom planning, field trips, P.E., substitute teachers, and daily diabetes-related logistics.

Inside, you’ll find ready-to-use school nurse email templates, daily communication notes, 504 Plan request language, lunchbox planning frameworks, field trip and P.E. checklists, substitute teacher instructions, emergency contact forms, and supply inventory sheets.

No. This guide is for educational and informational purposes only. It does not replace your child’s medical care plan or advice from your child’s endocrinology team, school nurse, doctor, or diabetes educator. Always review school diabetes decisions with qualified healthcare and school professionals.

Because managing Type 1 diabetes at school can feel overwhelming, especially when every day involves communication, supplies, routines, emergencies, food planning, and school activities. This guide gives you practical tools, clear templates, and parent-tested structure so you can feel more prepared, reduce stress, and help your child move through the school day with more confidence.
